Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. George Floyd. Tony McDade. More
than 1,000 Americans have been shot and killed by police over the past
year. No more silence. No more lip service. No more inaction. It's time for
substantive structural change.
Our country’s systems are set up from top to bottom not to value people in an
intrinsic or equitable way, paving the path to egregious injustice at every level.
This is why we need transformative reform. We need new leadership that
viscerally understands this fundamental issue: the fundamental belief that
no life is more valuable than any other.
Today, live at 5:30pm, Jonathan will participate in the first of a series of
debates for NY-10. You can tune in on WBAI New York at 99.5FM . It will
be hosted by Ben Max and Jarrett Murphy. You may also listen to it online
by going to https://www.wbai.org/listen-live/
More than 100,000 Americans have died while Congress has been on
recess. More than 1 in 5 of those deaths have been New Yorkers.
Our politicians have been asleep at the switch as our communities burn
around us. We have forced the first televised debate in NY-10 history. The
debate will be televised on NY1 on June 17th at 7 pm ET moderated by Errol
Louis. While this is a victory, there is still much work to do. We need politicians
who dare to lead with new solutions.
